Open Season for Annuitants Eligible for District or Federal Health and Other Benefits

During the Open Season you may:

  • Change from one health insurance plan to another;
  • Change your current health option to a different level, (e.g., switch from standard option to high option);
  • Change your enrollment type (e.g., from Self-Only to Self and Family);
  • Re-enroll in an Health plan if you suspended your plan to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan or Tricare military health insurance program; or
  • Cancel your Health Benefits plan.  (Please note:  if you cancel your health plan, you will not be permitted to re-enroll at a later date.)

If you are a Federal (pre-1997) annuitant or retiree, each year, in early November, DCRB sends you instructions for making Open Season changes for calendar year 2015. Information about the Federal Open Season can be found by clicking 2014 Open Season for Federal Health, Dental, and Vision Plans: November 10 – December 8, 2014.

If you are a District (post-1997) annuitant or retiree, each year, in early November, DCRB sends you instructions for making Open Season changes for calendar year 2015. It is very important that you keep your address up to date to ensure that you receive your Open Season materials each year.  If you did not receive the informational packet, please contact our Member Services Center at (202) 343-3272 or toll free at 1(866) 456-3272. If you are satisfied with your current health insurance coverage, you do not have to do anything.  Your current health insurance coverage will continue automatically. Please review your 2015 premuims and plan coverages to determine if the current plan meets your needs.
