A Special Election for a Retired Police Officer Has Commenced

The District of Columbia Retirement Board (DCRB) has commenced the 2013 Special Election for the Retired Police Officer representative. The election schedule is as follows:

Nomination of Candidate for Trustee form mailed July 2, 2013
Nomination of Candidate for Trustee form to be received July 22, 2013
Drawing of Lots (Placement on Ballot) Candidates ONLY August 12, 2013
Ballots Mailed August 16, 2013
Deadline for ballots to be returned and last day to vote via telephone  September 16, 2013
Certification of Results September 19, 2013
Result Published in the DC Register September 27, 2013
Challenges to election filed with the Board October 4, 2013
Election results are final October 29, 2013
Trustee term begins October 30, 2013

A Retired Police Officer is defined in the DCRB Election Rules is as follows:

  • A Retired Police Officer is a member or officer of the Metropolitan Police force who has retired under a regular or disability retirement pursuant to the program for Police and Firefighters Retirement and Disability. This does not include their survivors.

Retired Police Officers can vote either by mail ballot or via telephone. If you do not receive a ballot or if you have any inquiries regarding the election, please contact the Election Official, True Ballot, Inc. at (301) 656-9500.
