Summary Plan Descriptions

The Summary Plan Descriptions (the “SPDs”) explain the major provisions of the District of Columbia Police Officers and Firefighters’ Retirement Plan and the District of Columbia Teachers’ Retirement Plan (the “Plans”). Descriptions of the benefits available and the requirements to qualify for benefits under the Plans are explained in the SPD booklets.

Your rights and responsibilities under the Plans are also included. SPD booklets are available in PDF format for download below. Summary of Material Modifications to the Teachers' Retirement Plan, September 21, 2009

The Omnibus Domestic Partnership Equality Amendment Act of 2008 (the “Act”) resulted in important changes to the District of Columbia Teachers’ Retirement Plan (the “Plan”). These changes, which were effective retroactive to September 12, 2008, are summarized in this document.
