The District of Columbia Retirement Board (“DCRB”) is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of monthly retirement benefit payments for the  members, survivors, and beneficiaries of the District government’s retirement plans. This role supports end‑to‑end pension payroll operations, maintains high standards of data integrity, and collaborates closely with DCRB’s Benefits, Information Technology (IT), Internal Audit, and Finance (accounting unit) departments to deliver secure and efficient payment services.

Key duties of this position include reconciling benefit calculations in compliance with plan provisions and statutory regulations; monitoring payment exception reports and resolving discrepancies;  managing ACH/EFT processing in accordance with NACHA standards; and coordinating with third‑party vendors, payroll systems, and financial institutions on various financial actions and issues.

DCRB is responsible for the investment of funds and administration of retirement benefits for approximately 15,000 retirees and 10,000 members of the District of Columbia Teachers’ Retirement Plan and the District of Columbia Police Officers and Firefighters’ Retirement Plan (collectively “Plan members”).

The annualized full-time salary range for this position is $71,422--$114,054 DOQ (DCRB Grade 07), and the posting will remain open until filled. For more information, see the position description attached below.
