DCRB is now accepting applications for its 2027 Summer Investments Internship Program.
The Investments Internship Program provides Washington, DC-area students with an opportunity to learn about Washington, DC’s public pension fund and the institutional investment industry, and interact with best-in-class investment managers across various asset classes. Interns will gain first-hand experience while learning about asset classes, portfolio construction, private markets due diligence, and other public pension investment work. As part of the internship, DCRB will sponsor the interns’ participation in the CFA Institute Fundamentals Certificate Program and ensure ample study time for the CFA exam.
Program Duration
Total of eight (8) weeks (June and July)—onsite at DCRB's office in NW Washington, DC—with general expectation of 40 hours per week. (Potential for part-time extension during the academic year (minimum eight (8) hours per week), depending on assessed performance in and successful completion of internship.)
Compensation
Paid ($29/hour); plus, public transportation benefit.
Qualifications
- Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
- Strong desire to learn about financial markets and institutional investing.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to complete small tasks independently.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Gather, synthesize, and manipulate data to prepare analyses and reports.
- Assist in drafting and editing investment reports, memos, and slide presentations.
- Create and help maintain internal investment databases.
- Virtually participate in workshops, training, and conferences along with the Investment team.
- Assist the Investment team with investment-related administrative and legal tasks.
- Participate in meetings with investment management firms alongside members of the Investment team.
- Participate in agency-wide "Meet DCRB" introductions to other agency departments.
- Help identify opportunities to create efficiencies and improvements within the Investment department.
- Attend Investment Committee meetings.
- Deliver a final, comprehensive project at the conclusion of the internship, focused on an assigned institutional investment topic, culminating in a written analysis, formal memorandum, slide presentation, and an oral briefing to the Investment team and other DCRB staff.

- Interns will be assigned a mentor.
- Regularly scheduled check-ins to support learning and professional development.
