The Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) and the District of Columbia Employees Health Benefits (DCEHB) annual open enrollment period, also known as “Open Season,” is when retirees can make changes to their health insurance plans. The 2026 Open Season runs from Monday, November 10, 2025, to Monday, December 8, 2025.
During this period, you can:
- Change your current health plan
- Update your family status (e.g., add or remove eligible dependents)
- Cancel your enrollment
- Suspend your enrollment
Changes to your health insurance plans can be made only during the designated Open Season period, unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to certain qualifying life events, such as marriage, birth of a child, or loss of other coverage.
