Election for Active Teacher, Active Firefighter, and Retired Police Officer Representative to the District of Columbia Retirement Board Has Commenced

 The District of Columbia Retirement Board (DCRB) has commenced an Election for the Active Teacher, Active Firefighter, and Retired Police Officer Trustee. The election schedule is as follows:

 

Notice of Election, Request for Nominations, and Statement of Candidacy Forms Mailed and Available

September 6, 2024

Statement of Candidacy Forms Due to Election Official by 5 pm ET

 October 4, 2024

Election Official Sends Eligibility or Ineligibility Letter to Stand for Election

October 21, 2024

Drawing of Lots for Placement on Election Ballot (may be attended by Candidates ONLY)

November 05, 2024

Election Ballots Mailed and Available, Voting Opens

November 13, 2024

Last Day to Submit Election Ballots to Election Official by 5 pm ET

December 13, 2024

Ballot Counting and Onsite Verification

December 16, 2024

Certification of Election Results by the Board

December 19, 2024*

Election Results Published in the DC Register

January 3, 2025*

Any Challenges to Election Must be Submitted in Writing to DCRB
by 5 pm ET

Election Results are Final

An Active Teacher is defined in the DCRB Election Rules as follows:

An "active teacher" who is an employee of District of Columbia Public Schools ("DCPS") in a salary class position ET 1-15 or an employee of a District of Columbia public charter school who is an active member of the District of Columbia Teachers' Retirement Plan ("Teachers' Plan").

An Active Firefighter is defined in the DCRB Election Rules as follows:

An "active firefighter" who is a sworn member or officer of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department ("FEMS").

An Retired Police Officer is defined in the DCRB Election Rules as follows:

A "retired police officer" who has retired from MPD under the provisions of the Police Officers & Firefighters' Plan ("Police Officers & Firefighters' Plan").
