Mary A. Collins serves on the District of Columbia Retirement Board’s Board of Trustees as the elected Retired Teacher Trustee. She is a member of the Benefits and Investments Committees. Ms. Collins represented the Active Teachers on the Board of Trustees for 12 years (from 1997 until 2009), when she retired as an active teacher after 33 years with the District of Columbia Public School system. During that time on the Board, Ms. Collins served as Board Chair from 2001 through 2003. 

Ms. Collins served for five years on the Board of Directors of the Council of Institutional Investors and was Chair of its Policy Committee for three years. She also served as Vice Chair of the Executive Board for Mid-Atlantic Plan Sponsors.

Ms. Collins was elected as the Retired Teacher Trustee in 2013. Her current term expires on January 27, 2026.
