Election for Retired Firefighter Representative to the Board Has Commenced

The District of Columbia Retirement Board (DCRB) has commenced its Retired Firefighter Election. The election schedule is as follows:

Start of the 2019 Retired FirefighterTrustee Election cycle August 1, 2019
Election Notification Packets mailed to Qualified Voters August 30, 2019

Last day to file completed Statement of Candidacy forms, including Qualifications Statements, with Election Official

September 19, 2019

Qualified Voters notified of their eligibility or ineligibility to stand for election

September 30, 2019
Last day to file a conforming Statement of Candidacy form October 10, 2019
Candidates are notified of drawing of lots October 15, 2019
Drawing of Lots for ballot placement order October 30, 2019
Election ballots mailed to Qualified Voters; Online and telephone voting opens November 8, 2019
Last day to vote in Retired Firefighter Election (by 11:59pm ET) December 9, 2019
Ballots tabulated and certified by the Election Official December 13, 2019
Election results certified by the Board December 19, 2019
Notice of election results published in the D.C. Register January 13, 2020
Challenges to Election filed with the Board – Last Day January 20, 2020
Trustee's term begins January 28, 2020

A Retired Firefighter is defined in the DCRB Election Rules as follows:

Retired Firefighter – ‘A "retired firefighter" who has retired from FEMS under the provisions of the District of Columbia  Police Officers and Firefighters' Retirement Plan.'
