The 2012 versions of the Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) for the D.C. Teachers’ Retirement Plan and the D.C Police Officers and Firefighters’ Retirement Plan have been released. Printed copies of the SPDs and a cover letter were mailed to all Plan members (Active and Retired) in early July. The new SPDs have been published to DCRB’s website, and you may view the PDFs by clicking through the link below. Finally, a DCRB E-News email is being sent to Plan members who have provided an email address announcing the release of the SPDs.

The new SPDs have been updated to include statutory changes that are current through December 31, 2012. Additionally, explanations and examples have been expanded to make complex subjects easier for Plan members to understand. The administrative and procedural sections have been revised to reflect current benefits administration practices, and contact addresses and phone numbers have been updated.

Plan members who have any questions regarding the SPDs should use the following contact information:

  • Active teachers should contact the DCPS Office of Human Resources at (202) 442-4090.
  • Active police officers and firefighters should contact their Human Resources Departments [(202) 727-4261 for police officers and (202) 442-7627 for firefighters].
  • Retirees and survivors of all member groups (Teachers, Police Officers, and Firefighters) should call DCRB’s Member Services Center at (202) 343-3272 or toll-free at 1-866-456-3272.
