Winner of Active Teacher Election Is Certified by DCRB

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

The special election process for an Active Teacher Trustee to serve on the District of Columbia Retirment Board (DCRB) Board of Trustees (the Board) began in August 2018 with the distribution of election notification packets to qualified voters by DCRB’s election official, Election-America, Inc. The Special Election was delayed due to an unfortunate error related to the printing and mailing of the Election Notice and Nomination Package. The envelopes containing the notice of election, request for nominations, and statement of candidacy forms were mislabeled. The election vendor, Election-America, Inc., mailed new election materials to all eligible Active Teachers on November 9, 2018. Election ballots mailed to qualified voters, and online voting and telephone voting opened on December 17, 2018, and closed on January 15, 2019.  On January 16, 2019, Election-America tabulated the ballots that were cast and certified the results of the election.

At its regular meeting on January 17, 2018, the Board certified Denise Daniels as the Active Teacher Trustee for the term beginning January 28, 2019, and ending January 27, 2021.

The Notice of Public Interest was published in the DC Register on February 1, 2019.
